Jags Baseball 6-6 Clarion Goldfield- Dows 0-4 L (2-6)
The non conference matchup of the Cowboys vs. Jaguars was the Thursday night game.
The Jags once again saw their opponents best pitching as the Cowboys sent out their ace
pitcher in the non conference matchup. Jags sent out Senior Kaden Holder to the mound.
Kaden threw a good ball game only giving up two earned runs after giving Clarion baserunners off walks and hit batters, the Senior settled in and got his team out of some big jams with a little help from the defense. In the fourth inning the Jags had bases loaded no outs and found a way to get out of the inning without any runs crossing. Logan Jaeschke would replace Holder on the mound followed by Tyler Jondle finishing the game with 2 outs bases loaded, throwing three pitches to get the final out. It was Clarion’s senior pitcher’s night though as he was dealing on the mound. He just couldn’t throw a pitch that wasn’t being called a strike and credit to him he keep the Jag bats off balance all night. Casey Hanson and Tyler Jondle both had hard swings but good plays by the Cowboys keep them off the bases.
JV action: 12-5 W (5-2-1)
Sophomore Nick Field and Lincoln Akins did just enough for the Jags to give them their
fifth win of the season. Coming out little timid Nick had a nice pickoff at second and closed out the first inning with only one run given up on the windy afternoon. The JV cowboys would score four in the second but the sophomore pitchers would hold them the rest of the way on the scoreboard. The Jag offense continued to stay hot as Jaxon Meyer went 2-2 with a double and single. Lincoln Akins also worked his magic once again going 2-2 with two singles and scoring three times. Colin Johnson, Lenix Allbee, and Kayden Showers all added singles while Karson Roper added a double to his stat sheet. Ryan Stewart would round out the hitting with a nice hit down the line for a triple scoring two runners and added a sac fly in the second inning to give him three RBI’s on the day.
