7/6 DISTRICTS vs. South Central 16-14 W (9-13)
A thriller in Pocahontas as the Southeast Valley baseball team showed a lot of grit coming
from behind to score three runs in the 7th inning to beat rival South Central Calhoun. Down one the Jags started off with a double by Hane Sorenson. Back to back to back walks brought up Mason Bahr who grounded out into a fielder's choice. Karson Roper hit an infield single between first and second and beat out the throw to score Brady Hanson and Logan Jaeschke with heads up base running by Jaeschke. The Jags made it interesting in the bottom with bases loaded but pitcher Gauge Jones got the pop up against the Titan’s best hitter to record the third out and the game. Pitcher Hane Sorenson started on the mound going until his pitch count limit. Junior Gauge Jones would finish the game and together they only allowed two earned runs, striking out ten batters. Only a few hits were solid for the Titans but few defensive miscues allowed them to stay in the game. Standouts on the offensive end were Senior Hane Sorenson who was 3-5 and four scores. Brady Hanson would have a monster smash, a home run that left no doubt. Brady would also walk three times and score four runs. Karson Roper would have a day going 3-4 with 2 huge RBI’s with two outs early in the game and getting the big one in the seventh. Next game for the Jags is Tuesday night as they will be traveling Ida Grove to take on OABCIG for a chance to go to the district finals. Action will start at 7:00 clock, so make the long drive and come out to support the Jaguars.
