Jags Baseball 6-10 @ Pocahontas 0-4 L (3-7) (3-3 conf.)
The first game of the week for the Jags saw the Southeast Valley baseball team traveling to
take on the young Pocahontas Indians. Both aces for the respected team were on the mound and it was a pitchers duo but the Indians had the big hit when they needed it and finished with the four run win. Senior Hane Sorenson took the mound and threw well going 5 ⅔ innings allowing 3 earned runs on two hits but they were big ones at the time scoring runners. All four runs scored were on walked or hit batters who eventually scored. The bats were solid and the Jags actually out hit the Indians but the hits came with no one on base. It was the difference in the ball game as Indians getting the timely hits and the Jags not. The three hits came from Gauge Jones, Casey Hanson and Tyler Jondle, which were all singles. Rough night for the bats against a good pitcher but they will look to get back on track Wednesday as East Sac comes into Dayton for a conference match up.
JV Action 0-6 L (6-3-1)
It was a rough going for the SVJV team. Pocahontas who was playing most of their varsity due to lower numbers put the Jags down early and never let up. A few errors and pass balls didn't help but the Indians played well against the young squad. Casey Hanson started on the mound followed by fellow freshmen Evan Bintz. Both did well on the mound throwing strikes. The hits on the Jaguar side of things were there just staggered kind of like the varsity game was. Lincoln Akins led everyone with two hits. Lenix Allbee and Karson. Roper added a hit each in the first inning. Just with two outs, so no runs crossed before the third out happened. Jaxon Meyer would round out the hits for the JV squad with a single. A valiant effort against a majority of varsity guys playing in the lineup but the Jag JV squad will try for their 7th win against East Sac on Wednesday.
