SVSB vs. St. Ed's
5/28/2024 vs. St. Edmond
Southeast Valley softball welcomed the class 1A, 6th ranked Gaels from St. Edmond’s in Harcourt on Tuesday night. Unfortunately, the Jaguars fell to the Gaels by a score of 0-12 in six innings.
Southeast Valley struggled to get the bats going against a tough St. Ed’s pitcher. The Jags would have just two runners reach first base and that is as far as they would reach. Senior shortstop Ellie Nolte would reach following being hit by a pitch and sophomore right fielder Brooke Peterson would have a hard hit ball that the Gael defense bobbled, allowing her to reach first base safely.
In the circle, junior Chloe Lambert got the start. She would face 16 batters before handing the ball over to sophomore Rian Schlief in the third inning. Schlief would face 21 batters and strike out three. The Jaguars will need to clean up their defensive efforts as they had four defensive errors that were costly in the end. The Gael offense would take advantage of every misqueue and capitalize on them.
The Jaguar softball team will bounce back and do so quickly as they travel to Peterson on Wednesday for their conference opener against the Rebels from Sioux Central. After Tuesday’s match up, the Southeast Valley softball record sits and four wins and one loss.
