SVSB @ Eagle Grove -- Districts
The 2024 Southeast Valley Softball campaign came to a close on Saturday night in Eagle Grove with a heartbreaking loss during the bottom of the seventh inning. The Jags lost to the Eagles by a score of 1-2 resulting from a walk off blooper from the Eagles.
The Jaguars fought hard and didn’t give up. The Jags managed to score one in the first and hold onto that lead until the Eagles pushed one across in the fourth inning. The Jaguars saw production at the plate from the top half of the line up, but struggled to bring runs across when they needed it most, leaving base runners on in all seven innings.
Offensively:
Jordyn Rowley: 3-4 with a double, one RBI, two singles, and an ROE
Rian Schlief: 2-4 with two singles
Alex Kitchen: 1-3 with a single
Ellie Nolte: 0-1, but walked twice and was hit by a pitch
Chloe Lambert: one single and reached twice on errors
Defensively: The Jaguars had one error on the night. Chloe Lambert did most of the work in the circle facing 21 batters. Lambert walked two and struck out six while only allowing five hits. Rian Schlief also threw in the circle. Schlief took on five batters; walking one and striking out one while forcing three easy hits into the defense behind her.
The Jaguars finished the season with an overall record of 17 wins and 10 losses. The season may not have ended the way we had hoped, but there were many trials and tribulations that were overcome, many obstacles defeated, growth and development in many areas, and a lot of fun had on the season. Southeast Valley softball says goodbye to five incredible seniors in Ellie Nolte, Kenna Scott, Leilah Olson, Jordyn Rowley, and Alex Kitchen. The five young women listed above have left their mark and set a standard for the future of Southeast Valley softball. Meanwhile, the Jags will look to build on the foundation set and continue to move the program forward.
