Jags Victorious vs Eagle Grove

June 9, 2022

Southeast Valley Softball improved their overall record on Thursday night. The Jaguars welcomed the Eagles from Eagle Grove to Harcourt for a JV and varsity contest where the varsity team took the win by a score of five to two bringing the Jag’s record to five wins and six losses on the season.

Offensively, Southeast Valley would score four in the first and plate one in the second. Sophomore shortstop, Ellie Nolte, got things rolling at the plate with a leadoff single. Nolte would steal second and Kenna Scott would take advantage of an Eagle error to reach base, bringing Jordyn Rowley to the plate with no outs on the board. Rowley would bring in two runs on a single up the middle, advancing to second herself on the throw home. Junior Maddie Vansickle stepped up to the plate and kept her bat hot, going yard for the second game in a row, scoring Rowley and herself. The Jaguar bats would continue to force the Eagles to make plays throughout the game, but would go scoreless in innings three through six.

On the defensive side of the ball, Maddie Vansickle led the charge from the circle. Vansickle faced 24 batters and was dominant throughout all seven innings, striking out 12 and walking zero.

Southeast Valley ends their week with a conference matchup against the Warriors from Alta Aurelia on Friday in Harcourt.
