SVSB vs. Eas Sac 6/12/2024

The Jaguar softball team is on a six game win streak after defeating conference foe, East Sac by a score of 12-0 in Harcourt on Wednesday night. This game marks the fourth Jaguar win by mercy rule for the season. The win brings Southeast Valley’s record to ten wins and just three losses (5-1 in the Twin Lakes conference).

The Jags jumped on the board quickly in the first scoring four runs. Ellie Nolte started the game with a lead off walk followed by Chloe Lambert reaching safely at first after being hit by a pitch, putting runners on first and second for Jordyn Rowley who hit a single that dropped just in front of the Raider’s left fielder. The bases would be loaded for the Rian Schlief. Schlief showed discipline in the box, earning the walk and bringing Nolte in from third for the first run. Lauren Eslick would follow Schlief’s lead and walk herself, plating Lambert for the Jags’ second run. Southeast Valley would score two more runs on a hit up the middle off the bat of Leilah Olson who reached safely on an error by the East Sac pitcher. The second inning would bring more runs across the plate in favor of Southeast Valley. Nolte would again be the first Jaguar base runner after walking to first. Chloe Lambert earned herself two RBIs in her second at bat of the game, smashing a homerun over the right field fence to plate Nolte and herself. Rowley was able to follow Lambert by reaching first on an error by the defense’s center fielder. Rian Schlief would reach base for the second time in the game after hitting a solid line drive for a single, moving Rowley to second followed by a walk to Camryn Lane and both Lauren Eslick and Leilah Olson being hit by the pitch. Rowley, Alex Kitchen (running for Schlief), Lane, and Eslick were brought home before the inning was over, making the Jaguar lead 10-0. The final two runs of the game were scored in the third inning. Chloe Lambert, Jordyn Rowley, and Rian Schlief would each single in the third to load the bases for Camryn Lane. Lane walked off the run rule victory after she smacked a well hit single over the left fielder’s head to score both Lambert and Rowley.

Rian Schlief got the start and the win in the circle for the Jags. Schlief was just two batters away from the perfect game, but still came away with the no-hitter. She faced just ten batters, striking out two and allowing the defense behind her to do the rest with perfection.
