Jags Softball 6/6/2024 vs. Clarion Goldfield Dows

The Jaguar softball team picked up another win in run rule fashion on Thursday night defeating the Cowgirls from Clarion-Goldfield-Dows by a score of 12-0 in four innings. With the win, the Jags now stand at 7-3 overall.

Ellie Nolte got things started in the first with a lead off walk and was moved to second off the Kenna Scott sacrifice bunt and took third on a passed ball by the Cowgirl catcher. Jordyn Rowley would join Nolte on the bases with a walk of her own. Both Nolte and Rowley would be in scoring position after a stolen base by Rowley. Nolte would steal home on a passed ball and Rowley would move over to third. This would be the perfect set up for sophomore Rian Schlief to score Rowley from third. Schlief delivered a double to right center field to put the Jags up 2-0 before the end of the first inning. In the second, Southeast Valley hitters managed to pass the bat to every single player in the lineup and pour on the runs, scoring nine in the bottom of the second. After Nolte and Scott hit into the Clarion defense, Chloe Lambert started the two out rally with a single followed by Jordyn Rowley reaching for the second time on a defensive miscue by the Cowgirl’s second baseman. Rian Schlief stepped into the box and for the second time in the game, roped a double to score both Lambert and Rowley. The bat then got passed to Camryn Lane who kept things rolling with a hard hit single of her own, scoring Schlief from second base. Lane, being the sole base runner for the Jags, stole second and third and would be scored easily by senior third baseman Leilah Olson who hit a double of her own. Brooke Peterson would take advantage of her at bat and continue the Jaguar’s hitting streak, knocking a single into right field, scoring Olson from second and advancing herself to second on the error by the defense. Junior catcher Lauren Eslick also doubled and scored in the second inning. The Jaguars showed focus and determination, scoring all nine runs with two outs on the scoreboard bringing the score to 11-0 in favor of the Jags. The run rule win would have to wait until the bottom of the fourth inning when Leilah Olson reached base for the third time in the game after being hit by the pitch. She would reach second and third as the result of passed balls and she would be scored to secure the run rule victory off a long SAC fly from Ellie Nolte.

On the mound, Chloe Lambert dealt a great game. She pitched four complete innings, only missing the “no hitter” by one batter. Lambert faced 13 batters and struck out six to earn herself the win in the circle.

The Jaguars look forward to ending the week on a high note against the Warriors from Alta-Aurelia on Friday night for one more home contest in Harcourt.
