Girls Basketball

JHGBB 11/16

Basketball season is in full swing at Southeast Valley Middle School! The 7th and 8th grade girls basketball teams opened their season by welcoming the visiting Rams from Greene County on Thursday night in Burnside.

In both games, fans witnessed athleticism, grit, heart, and hustle in addition to tremendous teamwork. The 7th grade team kicked off the season at 4 o'clock and have set a positive tone for the rest of their season after Monday night. The 7th graders showed toughness on defense throughout all fourth quarters, holding their opponent to just four total points in the game. On the offensive side of the board, the seventh graders were slow to start, scoring just six points in the first half. but they came out hot in the second half of play. Putting 10 more on the board before the end of the game.

The 8th graders stepped onto the court looking to continue where they left off and they showed they haven't missed a step since last winter. Going up against an aggressive and much taller opponent, the odds weren't in the Jags' favor and the game was a hard fought battle by both teams, however the Jaguars' stellar team defense and timely offense proved to be too much for the Rams to overcome. Southeast Valley went up by a score of 24-18 and finished the game by a score of 39-28.

The tone for the rest of the season has been set and the season looks bright for all of the girls due to their tremendous effort and teamwork. Go Jags!
