Southeast Valley Boys' Track at Story City
The Southeast Valley Boys’ Track team had a strong start at the Roland Story Coed Meet to their outdoor season on Thursday, March 28th. The Jaguars had one individual champion, recorded 9 top ten all-time school bests and several PRs.
Colin Johnson was the lone champion winning the 400 meter hurdles in a time of 58.51 to put himself 4th all-time in school history. Jace Hanson claimed a silver medal in the 400m dash and bronze in the 200m dash. His times of 53.99 and 23.86 put him 4th and 6th on the all time list in the 400m and 200m dash respectively.
Freshman Alex Burger took 3rd in the long jump jumping an 8th all time best jump of 18’ 9.25” in school history. He also picked up 5th place in the 400m hurdles. Dreyvon put himself 6th on the all time list in the 100m dash in 11.80. Oscar Hanson picked up a 4th place finish in a time of 5:11 and Owen Nuss also picked up a 5th place finish in the 400m dash running a season best of 57.19.
The relay teams also had a strong night with three of them moving up on the top ten best in school history. The Shuttle hurdle team of Jace Hanson, Colin Johnson, Casey Hanson and Isaiah Ihrig took 3rd in the race to run a 1:08.42 for 4th best in school history.
Kayden Showers, Brady Hanson, Dreyvon Steadman and Logan Jaeschke started the meet off running a 1:43.00 in the sprint medley for a bronze medal and 8th best all time. The same quartet also ran a season best of 1:37.13 in the 4 x 200m relay to take bronze. Kayden, Brady, Dreyvon then teamed with Jace Hanson in the 4 x 100m relay to finish 4th later in the night. Their time of 45.79 is now 5th all time in school history.
The 4 x 400m relay took silver medal honors in a time of 3:46.91 (Isaiah I., Owen N., Logan J., and Colin J.) Picking up a bronze in the relays were Alex Burger, Bryce Harrison, Ben Thompson and Drew Dorsey in the 1600m medley relay in 4:09.93. Ethan Tucker, Owen Nuss, Oscar Hanson and Logan Bintz ran a season best of 9:26.68 in the 4 x 800m relay to take 5th.
Ian Brunner was the JV champion in the shot put throwing a PR of 36’ 2”. Other season PRs on the night were Logan Bintz (1600m, 5:39.30), Grant Farnham (800m, 2:43.99) and Kegan Vangilder (200m, 30.18).
The Jaguars will compete next at Greene County in Jefferson on Friday, April 5th before hosting their own boys’ home track meet on Monday, April 8th in Gowrie.
