Jaguar Boys' Track Host Home Invitational

Southeast Valley hosted their home boys’ invitational in Gowrie on Monday, April 8th.  The meet was a two class meet as the Jaguars competed with a team in both classes.  

The varsity team in class A finished 3rd overall.  Perennial class 1A powerhouse Madrid ran away with the meet with 182 points.  Roland Story edged SV by 5 points for second.  Roland Story had beaten the Jaguars a week earlier by 24 points. Ogden was 4th with 78 points.

The JV team running in class B, finished 7th overall with 35 points.  West Bend Mallard won class B with 105 points, followed by GTRA in second with 101 points and Roland Story JV with 90 points.

In the class A division, Jace Hanson led the Jaguars with the lone gold medal of the night winning the 110m hurdles in a time of 16.23.  He also claimed runner up in the 400m low hurdles in a time of 58.55.  Dreyvon Steadman also took 2nd place in the 100m dash (11.87) and Oscar Hanson took 2nd in the 3200m run (11:13.04).  Isaiah Ihrig, Owen Nuss, Casey Hanson and Colin Johnson also took 2nd in the 4 x 400m relay with a season best time of 3:44.19.

Southeast Valley top ten and season bests were a theme on Monday.  Steven Fisher threw the discus 122-02” to finish 3rd, throw a season best and have the 8th best throw in school history, while Aden Jepsen’s 111-05” in the same event put him 9th best all-time.  Bryce Harrison jumped 5-05” in the high jump to finish 5th in the meet and move to 9th on the all-time list.

The shuttle hurdle relay team of Colin Johnson, Isaiah Ihrig, Casey Hanson, and Jace Hanson took 3rd in the meet moving to 2nd on the all time list and the sprint medley relay team of Brady Hanson, Kayden Showers, Dreyvon Steadman and Logan Jaeschke took 4th with a season best of 1:41.77 and moved up to 6th on the top ten list.

Also running a season best was Logan Bintz in the 3200m run (12:46.22) and Oscar Hanson in the 800m run (2:12.28).  The freshman 1600m medley team of Bryce Harrison, Logan Jaeschke, Alex Burger and Owen Nuss set a freshmen record in a time of 4:14.44.  

In class B, Alex Burger also set a freshmen record in the 400m hurdles running a 1:03.61 to finish 2nd overall.  Ben Thompson’s 2:25.84 was 3rd in the 800m run.  He also joined Bryce Harrison, Drew Dorsey and Spencer Peterson in the 4 x 400m relay to take 4th (4:01.09). 

Riley Fawcett and Kegan Vangilder set season best times in the 100m dash, running 13.23 and 14.74 respectively.  Throwing a pair of PRs were Kyle Eastman’s 79-0 in the discus while Kaden Wellman threw 25-09.5 in the shot put.  

The boys will return to action on Monday, April 15th in their own coed relays in Gowrie before heading to Newell Fonda on Friday, April 19th and then to Manson on Tuesday, April 23rd.
