Southeast Valley Cross Country at the Panorama Invite in Panora, Thursday, Sept. 19th, 2024
The Southeast Valley cross country teams took on a tough course, tough competition, and tough weather conditions when they competed at the Panorama Invite in Panora on Thursday, Sept. 19th, 2024. Both teams finished 11th overall in the 16-team field. The girls scored 284 points and the boys scored 286 points.
On the boys’s side Class 1A #3 ranked Ogden was 1st with 66 points followed by class 1A #9 ACGC with 99 and Kuemper was third with 101. The girls’ race was won by class 2A #1 Van Meter with 41 points, followed by class 1A #1 Earlham and #11 ACGC who scored 62 and 90 points respectively.
Lincoln Akins was the top finisher for the boys in 25th place with a 19:48 and Katie Field led the girls’ team finishing 45th in 26:38. Both were course PRs from the previous year. Owen Nuss (54th, 21:12), Autumn Jones-Popp (48th, 27:08) and Evan Kuhn (81st-JV, 27:48) also ran course PRs at Panora. Kaleb Klein running in his first 5k of the year, took over 2 minutes and 30 second from his previous career best as a freshman running 37:22 (98th-JV)
Carver Peterson (71st, 22:43), Drew Dorsey (75th, 23:13), Grant Farnham (76th, 23:20), Logan Bintz (78th, 23:58) and Kayden Showers (88th, 25:55) competed in the boys race along with Lincoln and Owen on Thursday. Joining Katie and Autumn in the girls’ race was Meia Hefley (63rd, 30:23), Hailey Rees (64th, 30:37), Abbi Tucker (74th, 35:10) and Amelia Christensen (79th, 37:37).
In the JV race Kyeo Augustine (46th, 24:18), Oliver Riehl (57th, 25:11), Carter Ganoe (72nd, 26:22), Caden Kaltschnee (82nd, 28:22) and Ben Wanat (90th, 32:22) competed with Evan and Kaleb. The JV boys finished 7th with 196 points.
The Jaguars will compete this Thursday night, September 26th at Story City in the Norseman Invite before getting a 10 day break and traveling to Pocahontas Area on Saturday, October 5th.
