Jaguar Cross Country at Greene Count meet in Jefferson, Thursday, Sept. 12th

              The Southeast Valley cross country teams found their first medalists of the season at the Greene County Cross Country Meet in Jefferson on Thursday, September 12th. The Jaguars actually had four medalists on Thursday as Katie Field 13th in the girls’ race and Lincoln Akins 13th, Owen Nuss 15th and Ethan Tucker 17th all recorded top twenty finishes during the 5k race held at the golf course.

              Lincoln’s time of 19:06 was his all-time best time, while Katie (24:40), Owen (19:22) and Ethan (19:39) all ran season best PRs. Joining Lincoln in running career PRs were Carver Peterson (20:18, 26th), Logan Bintz (44th, 21:51), Kayden Showers (22:46, 54th), Caden Kaltschnee (23:03, 57th), Carter Ganoe (24:11, 62nd), Evan Kuhn (26:05, 68th), Ben Wanat (28:36, 74th) and Amelia Christensen (35:30, 43rd). Abbi Tucker (37th) joined Ethan, Owen and Katie running a season best time of 31:40. Also finishing the race on Thursday were Drew Dorsey (43rd, 21:48), Grant Farnham (58th, 23:05), Oliver Riehl (65th, 25:36), Autumn Jones-Popp (27th, 28:38), Meia Hefley (34th, 29:32), and Hailey Rees (35th, 29:53)

              In the eight-team field, the boys team finished a season high 4th place while the girls finished 6th. The top seven scorers for the boys were Lincoln, Owen, Ethan, Carver, Drew, Logan and Kayden. On the girls side the top seven scorers were Katie, Autumn, Meia Hefley, Hailey Rees, Abbi and Amelia. 

              Winning the boys team race was Ogden with 29 points, followed by Denison-Schleswig (77) and Greene County (87). Southeast Valley scored 110 in the boy’s race. Panorama won the girls race with 49 points, followed by Denison-Schleswig (54) and Perry (71) while the Jaguar girls scored 117.

              Southeast Valley will next compete at Panora on Thursday, September 19th before traveling to Story City on Thursday, September 26th.
