Boys Golfers Squeak Out Win in Windy Conditions
Southeast Valley Boys Golf hosted Clarion-Goldfied-Dows in Gowrie, April 15th.
Both teams competed in high winds, and battled through rough conditions. It was a close battle, with SV squeaking out with a one stroke victory.
SV finished with an 182 final score, and CGD with an 183.
Will Comp was the meet medalist with a 40, and Karson Roper was the runner-up medal honoree with a 43.
Varsity Scores: Comp 40, Roper 43, Butrick 48, Declan McGuire 51, Drew Temple 52, Johnny Gregory 53.
The JV team for the Jaguars shot 192, a season low.
Coach Dahlstrom commented, “We competed, both levels. The team knew we were down a member on our varsity team. The boys were asked to step up, and they did. Battling some adversity is always good, persevering through that shows some toughness too. We squeaked it out. We learned how much every stroke matters.”
“Comp made a long par putt on hole 9, Butrick saved a par on another hole, and many more shots helped in between. Roper played steady in the #2 spot, his confidence was strong. I was proud of the guys. They did great in the circumstances.”
