@Gowrie 4-10-25:
The Jaguars opened the golf season with a victory over West Bend 177-200. The Senior duo of Will Comp and Brady Hanson paced the Varsity line-up with a low 43 card, both earning a playoff opportunity in a three-way tie for medalist honors. West Bend-Mallard’s #2 Tyler Hansen also shot a 43 in the meet. After a three-hole playoff, Comp came out on top and earned meet medalist honors, with WBM’s Hansen earning runner up. Hanson finished 3rd overall in his first Varsity competition, showcasing his skill as a first-year member on the SV golf team. All three players battling it out in the playoff made par on the first playoff hole. Sophomore Karson Roper narrowly missed out on joining the playoff excitement, shooting a 44 on the night. Sophomore Hayden Burtick rounded out the team score of 177 with a 47 round. Also competing at the Varsity level was Linkin Roper with a 49 and Benson Konecne with a 52.
The JV line-up for SV shot 196, led by Hayden Greene and Drew Temple, scoring 47 and 48, respectively. Dawson Tuel (50), Declan McGuire (51), and Owen Pudenz (52), met in the middle of the JV scoring. Colton Haug rounded out the SV scoring with a 59 on the evening.
Coach Dahlstrom commented, “we played alright for the first meet of the year, the first meet nerves were there for sure. I think the group learned from tonight, the mental aspect of competition. We like our team, and we will work on improving our game and scores down the road.” Coach Dahlstrom also added, “the weather could have been worse, and I think we will make progress throughout the season. Course management will only improve and the nerves will settle.”
