8/30/2024 Varsity Football Starts Season

The Southeast Valley Football team loses in a heart breaker to open the season in the final second of the game. It was a game that went back and forth the entire game and was a game of inches for the win.

Manson took the opening drive in 6 plays for a TD and that was already more TD's than they scored against us last year.

The Jags came right back with a 11 play drive with great runs from Brady Hanson and Cale Vansickle and also a catch from Logan Jaeschke and Guage Jones. Cale scored on a 9 yard run to tie up the game.

Both teams had 3 and out and were forced to punt.

Then the Jags had a kid tackled and he spun out and ran for a 81 yard TD. He was a tough break because it sure looked like he was down and all of sudden he was in the endzone and Manson took the lead.

Brady Hanson returns the kickoff for a TD but it was brought back with a penalty. This was the first of many that hurt the Jags over the game.

Jags had to punt on their next 2 drives and on their 6th frive threw an Interception on play 1 but three plays later Brady Hanson Intercepted one back.

Two plays after the INT Cale Vansickle hit Logan Jaeschke for a 59 yard TD to make the score SV 12 and Manson 14 and that was the score going into half

Start of the third was both teams putting small drives together but both punting then finally SV puts a good drive together with runs from Drew Temple, Cale Vansickle and Brady Hanson to take the leady 18-14

Manson ran a 82 yard TD to take the lead 22-18

SV fights back with a 23 catch from Ian Brunner and Logan Jaeschke a 16 yard catch and the Brady Hanson scores from 20 out and Jags took the lead 26-22

Jags defense stopped Manson and it was 4-3 with 3 minutes to go and Manson went to punt and fumbled the snap and the kids ran it and got the first down by 2 inches to keep the drive going. Then Manson hits a 32 yard pass to keep alive and another 8. With 7 seconds to go SV defense comes up with a big play and stops Manson for the win. BUT as we were getting ready to go shake hands there is still 1 second on the clock and Manson has 1 more play. We just had hurt their QB on the last play so their best WR goes to QB and throws one up and the kid catches it on the 2 and runs it in for the win. We all sat there shocked.

As we look back we had tons of things not go our way. We had 5 huge penalties that took over 150 yards and TD's away from us. We had turnovers and we did not knock balls down over and over throughout the night. Plus we gave up 2 plays over 80 yards and that can't happen.

The boys and coaches were heartbroken and deflated after this loss. We all have to move on fast and not let 1 second affect the rest of their season. This is when you find out what they have inside themselves.

We will move on fast and get ready for Eagle Grove
