Barnum- The Southeast Valley 8th grade boys fell 25-23 to Manson Northwest Webster. The Jaguars and Cougars battled again this time in Barnum, the Jags lost by a single point in the first meeting. After the first quarter of back and forth basketball the Jags trailed 10-6. Going into the halftime break the Jags trailed 13-10, but were just starting to play to their strengths. We wanted to get out and run and not let them set up their defense. We wanted to control the glass on both ends of the floor and be the more physical team. The Jags still trailed 19-16 after the third quarter. In an intense game the Jags earned a chance to tie or take the lead at the end of regulation, but came up just short by a 25-23 score. The Jags played extremely hard and left everything on the floor. Scoring for the Jaguars: Ethan Martin (4), Josiah Hefley (7), August Akins (6), and Parker Bintz (6). Also contributing for the Jaguars: Max Judson, Mason Newell, Chris Andrews, Colden Maple,Colton Bachel, Jake Wicklein, Carter Lloyd, Brock Norine, Asher Loeffler, Brodie LaVine, and Shelton DeVries. The Jags are back in action on January 16th in Burnside against South Central Calhoun.
