Newell- The Southeast Valley 8th grade boys lost 43-31 to Newell-Fonda in a closer game than the final score indicated. At the end of the first quarter the Jags trailed 12-8. The Jags trailed 21-16 going into the halftime break. We talked about continuing to play tough, and ways to break their full court press. We were able to score points by breaking their press, so we wanted to keep attacking the basket when the opportunity was available. After the completion of the third quarter the Jags were behind 29-21. The final ended at 43-31 with the Jags playing hard until the final buzzer sounded.
