Twin Lakes Conference Wrestling Results

Close but no championship, for the second year in a row the Jags settled as Runner-ups in the Twin Lakes Conference tournament race behind Emmetsburg. The Jags gave it a go but in the end couldn't quite catch the E-Hawks in the final round. The Jags opened the first round winning twelve of their thirteen matches putting the team ahead in the race with a long way to go but stumbled in the semi-finals winning only two matches dropping them into fourth place. In the consolation semifinals the guys bounced back pushing them into the top three in the team race. 120 lbs Junior Caelen Oakes earned his third trip to the finals by pinning Colin Folsom of SCC and Senior Heavyweight Aaron Graves earned his second trip to the finals by pinning Nathan Adams of Emmetsburg. Both Oakes and Graves put the clamps on their opponents in the finals; Oakes caught his Sioux Central opponent Kaben Morrow in a side cradle and got the fall in 14 seconds for his first championship. Graves also put the clamps on his Alta-Aurelia opponent by laterally dropping his opponent for the fall for his first championship.

Five Jag wrestlers battled back for third place: Carson Suchan(145), Ty Klatt(152), Harley Bryson(160), Rylie Ferrari(182), and Mark Hughes(220). Kaden Holder(126), Max Miller(138) and Zack Miller(170) finished in fourth place while Malaki Klatt(113) placed fifth and Caleb Will(132) placed sixth. Nate Graves(195) didn't place. Senior Max Miller, who has been a mainstay in the middle of the Jag lineup the last four years hit a career milestone by winning his 100 th career match during the tournament.

"Our guys gave it a go but came up a bit short against Emmetsburg. We thought we had a few chances in the semifinals to get two or three guys possibly in the finals but couldn't pull out the wins, but our guys battled back in the conso's to put us in the top two. Emmetsburg closed the door as they crowned four champs and also had a good round in the conso's."

If the Jags can defeat Alta-Aurelia in a couple of weeks they will share the Twin Lakes Conference dual meet crown with the E-Hawks and Titans of South Central Calhoun. Each team has only one loss with the Jags only loss to the E-Hawks, the Titans lost to the Jags, and E-Hawks lost to the Titans.
